CFD Analysis of a Hydrostatic Pressure Machine with an Open Source Solver

نویسندگان

چکیده

The open source and freely available fluid flow solver named caffa3d was adapted to simulate the performance of a medium-scale Hydrostatic Pressure Machine (HPM) with straight radial blades, which had been previously tested in laboratory facility. A fully detailed explanation code is not intended be included this paper, but some its main characteristics are mentioned for completeness. In addition, convergence grid sensitivity analysis were performed order assess adequacy model. Evolution instantaneous power over few turns HPM shows typical blade pass frequency all operating discharges another oscillatory phenomena at rotating higher discharges. Power—Discharge Efficiency—Discharge curves obtained from simulations present good correlation experimental curves, up discharge value corresponding maximum HPM. comparison error efficiency remained below 6% lower than 97.8 L/s. For discharge, through becomes very unsteady, big eddy structures, underfilling buckets recirculation down entry channel, significantly reducing generated power. This behaviour also observed during previous experiments. work, foundations study other types turbines laid.

SediFoam: A general-purpose, open-source CFD-DEM solver for particle-laden flow with emphasis on sediment transport

With the growth of available computational resource, CFD–DEM (computational fluid dynamics–discrete element method) becomes an increasingly promising and feasible approach for the study of sediment transport. Several existing CFD–DEM solvers are applied in chemical engineering and mining industry. However, a robust CFD–DEM solver for the simulation of sediment transport is still desirable. In t...

Multi-Engine Machine Translation with an Open-Source SMT Decoder

We describe an architecture that allows to combine statistical machine translation (SMT) with rule-based machine translation (RBMT) in a multi-engine setup. We use a variant of standard SMT technology to align translations from one or more RBMT systems with the source text. We incorporate phrases extracted from these alignments into the phrase table of the SMT system and use the open-source dec...

Combining Machine Translation Output with Open Source

The Carnegie Mellon multi-engine machine translation software merges output from several machine translation systems into a single improved translation. This improvement is significant: in the recent NIST MT09 evaluation, the combined Arabic-English output scored 5.22 BLEU points higher than the best individual system. Concurrent with this paper, we release the source code behind this result co...

Verification of a CFD solver in near ground effect for aerodynamic behavior of airfoil NACA 0015

Numerical investigation was performed on NACA 0015 which is a symmetric airfoil. Pressure distribution and then lift and drag forces are verified. Changing of ground clearance was a considerable point. Also the angle of attack was changed from 0° to 10°. Pressure coefficient reaches its higher amounts on the wing lower surface when the ground clearance diminishes. Increment of the angle of atta...
